HOYfest is a one day festival which will take place on Friday 30th September in The Gate Arts Centre, Cardiff.
Welsh 4-piece ‘Pretty Vicious’ take the reigns as headliners, with ‘Redfaces‘ and ‘Estrons’ also featuring high up on the bill.
‘Its All Disco’ spoke to the event organisers prior to the festival. They clearly have big plans for the event, which is still new on the scene as it goes into its second year.
How did the idea for HOYfest come about?
“It had always been a pipe dream of mine. Having been to much larger festivals such as Reading, Latitude and T in the Park, I felt there was an opportunity for a similar festival in South Wales. The end goal is a weekend- long, onsite camping event with the best bands around.”
What can fans expect from the festival?
“Fans can expect to hear some of the best new bands around right now. They may not know all the words, but I guarantee they will walk away with a new favourite band. These artists are going places, and the intimate church venue that is hosting HOYfest will be the perfect scenario to see them before they are massive.”
How will this year differ from the last?
“2016 was our very first year and my own first experience of running a festival. We staged the event over two days in November with an amazing line-up. This year however, we’ve streamlined all the quality of last year’s festival into one day in the middle of Fresher’s week. We’re hoping to grow crowds from last year and to progress towards our goal of a massive weekend event.”
